Tonight, the Senate voted 51–49 on a motion to proceed with the GOP’s so-called “big beautiful” budget bill. This wasn’t the final vote—but it’s a giant red flag.
They’re trying to jam this 940-page bill through before the July 4th holiday because Donald Trump wants it done—and they want as little public scrutiny as possible.
Here’s what’s in the bill:
Deep cuts to SNAP
Medicaid, gutted
Healthcare stripped from 16 million people
All to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations
They’re rushing to take away the most basic human necessities so that the ultra-wealthy can hoard even more.
But there’s still time to stop this.
🚨 Senators Paul, Tillis, Johnson, and Collins have all said they’re a NO on final passage.
⚠️ Ron Johnson only voted yes on the motion to proceed perhaps to shield J.D. Vance—but he remains opposed.
👀 And Josh Hawley publicly said we shouldn't cut healthcare for poor and working people. Let’s make sure he doesn’t cave.
What now?
